The trading platform mistakenly used a 0x contract, causing a $300,000 Token fee to be intercepted by MEV Bots.
[比推] A certain trading platform misconfigured its interaction with the "swapper" contract of 0xProject, resulting in approximately $300,000 in Token fees being intercepted by MEV Bots.
A security researcher from Venn Network disclosed on Wednesday that a certain trading platform interacted with the "swapper" smart contract of the decentralized peer-to-peer trading platform 0x, which was never designed for Token authorization operations.
The "swapper" contract provided by 0xProject is used for executing token exchanges. This contract is permissionless, meaning anyone can call it to perform any operation without ownership restrictions. However, it is not designed for receiving token allowances, as doing so could expose funds to risk.
Researchers have indicated that this design has previously caused known issues, such as incidents involving the Zora airdrop claims on the BaseLayer2 network.
